“Sumoud” Alliance Discusses Ways to End the War and Restore Civilian Rule with Dutch Parliament Members

A delegation from the Civil Democratic Alliance of Revolutionary Forces (“Sumoud”), led by Dr. Abdalla Hamdok and several delegation members, met on Monday 26 January 2026 with the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Dutch Parliament.

The delegation briefed the participating Dutch MPs on the scale of the humanitarian catastrophe in the country. They also presented Sumoud’s vision for stopping the war, achieving a comprehensive peace, and restoring a sustainable path toward democratic civilian governance.

The alliance called on the Netherlands to play a positive role in supporting peace efforts, both directly and through the European Union.

In a related context, the Sumoud delegation met with a wide range of civil society organizations and research centers focused on Sudan. They were updated on the evolving situation in the country and the impact of the war, including violations and social consequences that have resulted in bitterness and societal divisions.

The alliance called for support for Sudanese civil society and for enhancing its capacity to fulfill its duty in addressing the challenges and aftermath of the war, as well as ensuring effective solutions.
