“Somoud” Alliance Discusses War-Ceasefire Efforts and Sudan’s Future with the Popular Congress Party

A delegation of leaders from the Civil Democratic Alliance of Revolutionary Forces (Somoud) met this evening Wednesday on 28 January 2026 in the German capital, Berlin, with the Secretary-General of the Popular Congress Party, Dr. Ali al-Haj. The meeting is part of the Alliance’s efforts to coordinate with national political forces to stop the war, plan for the post-war phase, and discuss ways to achieve comprehensive stability in Sudan.

The meeting involved an in-depth discussion on the current developments in the country and political visions for ending the war and addressing its aftermath. Both parties’ views aligned on the importance of unifying civil and political efforts to reach a comprehensive national solution that puts an end to the suffering of the Sudanese people.

The meeting featured significant and productive dialogue, resulting in an agreement to build upon the reached understandings to achieve practical results that can be implemented on the ground.

Furthermore, the meeting emphasized the importance of launching a serious and responsible dialogue among civil political forces opposed to the war, based on clear foundations and principles.
