European Sanctions Target Leaders from Both Sides of the Sudan War

Amsterdam - Mashaweer

The European Union has announced the imposition of sanctions on seven Sudanese individuals affiliated with both the Army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), as part of measures targeting individuals accused of violations linked to the ongoing conflict in Sudan.

The sanctions include Al-Qouni Hamdan Dagalo, the brother of the RSF Commander, alongside Al-Fatih Abdullah Idris (known as “Abu Lulu”), following accusations of committing serious violations within the country.

The new European sanctions also targeted two leaders of the “Popular Resistance” loyal to the Sudanese Army: Al-Misbah Abu Zaid and Al-Tayeb Imam Jouda, the Emir of the Kawahla Al-Nafidia tribe. These moves are part of international efforts to hold those involved in gross violations in Sudan accountable.

Additionally, European sanctions were imposed on five other individuals from the Rapid Support Forces.

According to official statements, this step is part of a European policy aimed at holding individuals accountable for acts of violence or human rights abuses during the continuous conflict in Sudan.
