“Sumoud” Delegation Receives Message from Two Young Men Who Walked 900 Miles to Raise Awareness for Sudan’s Suffering

London - Mashaweer

As part of its visit to the United Kingdom, a delegation from the Civil Democratic Alliance of Revolutionary Forces (Somood) met with Gale and John Malwal. The two South Sudanese young men walked 900 miles from the southernmost tip of the United Kingdom to its furthest point in the north. Their mission was to raise awareness about the scale of suffering faced by Sudanese people due to the war, advocate for peace, and raise funds to build a school for Sudanese children in refugee camps in eastern Chad.

The delegation listened to the story of Gale and John, who undertook this feat during a harsh winter season on a journey that lasted 33 days on foot.

Gale and John delivered a message to the “Sumoud” alliance and its leader, Dr. Abdalla Hamdok, urging them to spare no effort in the pursuit of a comprehensive and just peace, so that the killing stops, children can return to their schools, and life can return to Sudan.

The two young men shared a deeply emotional message regarding the bonds between the people of South Sudan and Sudan, emphasizing: “We are one people in two countries.”
