Saudi Arabia Condemns RSF Attacks in Kordofan, Demands End to Violations

Saudi Arabia expressed its strongest condemnation and denunciation of the attacks launched by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on the Al-Kuwaik Military Hospital, a World Food Programme (WFP) relief convoy, and a bus carrying displaced civilians. These attacks resulted in the deaths of dozens of unarmed civilians, including women and children, and caused damage to facilities and relief convoys in the states of North and South Kordofan in Sudan.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today (Saturday), Saudi Arabia emphasized that these actions cannot be justified under any circumstances and constitute flagrant violations of all humanitarian norms and relevant international agreements.

The Kingdom demanded that the RSF immediately cease these violations and fulfill its moral and humanitarian obligation to ensure the safe delivery of relief aid to those in need, in accordance with international and humanitarian laws and the provisions of the Jeddah Declaration (Commitment to Protect Civilians in Sudan), signed on May 11, 2023.

Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its position calling for the unity, security, and stability of Sudan, as well as the necessity of preserving its legitimate institutions. It also expressed its rejection of foreign interference and the continued smuggling of illegal weapons, mercenaries, and foreign fighters by certain parties—despite their claims of supporting a political solution. The statement noted that such behavior is a primary factor in prolonging the conflict and increasing the ongoing suffering of the Sudanese people.
