Hamish Falconer: Continued Fighting in Sudan is a “Stain” on the International Community

London - Mashaweer

The British Minister for the Middle East, Hamish Falconer, has characterized the continued fighting in Sudan as a “stain” on the international community, calling for an immediate end to the hostilities between the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

Falconer described the humanitarian situation as “absolutely horrific,” affirming that the United Kingdom is doing everything in its power to ensure that humanitarian aid reaches those in need.

He emphasized that the current priority is an immediate ceasefire, welcoming the calls led by the “Quartet” in this direction. He further demanded that all parties cease fire immediately and end the violence against civilians.

Falconer recalled the description used by British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, who called the events in Sudan an “international failure.”

“As long as this level of violence continues, that description remains accurate,” Falconer stated. “It is a failure that forms a stain on the conscience of us all, and the United Kingdom is committed to doing everything it can to reach a ceasefire.”
