United Nations: Humanitarian Truce in Sudan is Critically Important

The UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Sudan, Denise Brown, has emphasized the necessity of implementing an immediate humanitarian truce in the country. She stressed that a ceasefire, even if temporary, represents an urgent priority to alleviate the suffering of civilians.
During an interview on Al-Qahera News, Brown stated that a humanitarian truce would be “extraordinary and critically important.”
She explained that past ceasefire experiences—despite their short duration—provided civilians in conflict-ridden cities with some relief and “breathing room” in an atmosphere of peace. She noted that the past months have seen extremely difficult humanitarian conditions, with civilians subjected to detention, violence, and killing.
