Washington calls for immediate acceptance of humanitarian truce in Sudan

Washington - Mashaweer

Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor to U.S. President Donald Trump for Arab and African Affairs, confirmed that the United States has called on all Sudanese parties to immediately and unconditionally accept the humanitarian truce supported by the United Nations mechanism in Sudan.

Boulos, who participated in several diplomatic meetings in New York on the sidelines of the UN Security Council session dedicated to discussing developments in Sudan, stated: “We call on the Sudanese parties to immediately accept the humanitarian truce so that life-saving aid can reach civilians and allow space for dialogue.”

He added on the “X” platform: “While we work with our partners toward a just and lasting peace, we remain committed to holding those responsible for genocide in Sudan accountable and supporting a credible transition toward a civilian government.”

He continued: “The people of Sudan deserve security, dignity, and a future free from fear, and we stand with them in their pursuit of the lasting peace they deserve.”

The American official pointed to the sanctions imposed by the United States on three senior leaders of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) responsible for genocide, ethnically motivated killing, torture, starvation, and horrific acts of sexual violence in El Fasher, Sudan.

Boulos noted that these sanctions complement previous measures targeting parties linked to violations from all sides, including Islamist networks that have fueled instability in Sudan.

Boulos stressed that the United States will not tolerate such atrocities or other grave violations under any circumstances.
