Human Rights Commissioner: Sudan Witnessing Widespread Violations

Geneva - Mashaweer

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, stated today (Monday) that the world is witnessing the fiercest competition for power and resources since World War II, along with widespread rights violations in conflicts taking place in Sudan, Gaza, Myanmar, and Ukraine.

In his opening remarks at the Human Rights Council, Türk added: “A fierce competition for power and control over resources is unfolding on the global stage at a rate and intensity we have not seen in 80 years.”

He noted that the situation in Gaza remains catastrophic, and the aid allowed entry is insufficient to meet the immense needs.

He called for justice and the strengthening of international law, emphasizing that those responsible for violating international law must be held accountable.
