International Migration Supports Health Care in North Sudan
North Darfur - Mashaweer
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has announced that, with support from the United States government and in cooperation with its partner HDPO, it is working to provide mobile health care services, maternal health services, vaccinations, and medical referrals for families displaced from the city of El Fasher in the Mellit area of North Darfur state.
The organization also noted that it is providing protection support against gender-based violence and child protection services for families in the same areas of the region.
Cases of measles have risen to alarming levels, affecting thousands of children due to the weakness of routine immunization campaigns in Darfur.
The organization Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has called for the urgent need to conduct comprehensive vaccination campaigns throughout Darfur.
The organization pointed out that delays in the response could lead to more deaths and the spread of other infectious diseases.
