Omdurman - Mashaweer

The Sudanese Ministry of Health announced today, Tuesday, an increase in infection rates of dengue fever, malaria, and measles in several states across the country, amid intensive efforts to combat epidemics and improve preventative measures.

The Federal Ministry of Health’s Emergency Operations Center stated in a report that cumulative cases of dengue fever reached 6,976, including 5 deaths, compared to the same period last year.

Malaria infections rose significantly in the states of Khartoum, River Nile, White Nile, and Al Jazirah. Some areas, such as Tawila locality in North Darfur and the localities of Ed Dueim and Tendelti in White Nile, continued to record the highest rates of measles. Meanwhile, Al Jazirah state reported ongoing cases of Hepatitis E, despite a decrease compared to last week.

The statement indicated that interventions to combat dengue fever included activating emergency rooms at the state and local levels, funding response plans, and sending medical supplies. This is in addition to activating the technical committee to follow up on measles and hepatitis cases in affected states and providing support to displaced persons, numbering 58,158 families, totaling 227,519 individuals.
