UN Humanitarian Coordinator: The war in Sudan is “madness” and must stop

Dilling - Mashaweer

The United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in Sudan, Clementine Nkweta-Salami, said that the war in the country is “madness” and must stop.

At the end of her visit to the city of Dilling in South Kordofan State, she added that the city’s residents are in need of aid after being besieged for more than three years by the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), led by Abdelaziz al-Hilu, and the Rapid Support Forces.

On February 3rd, the Sudanese army ended the siege imposed on Dilling by an alliance including the Rapid Support Forces and the SPLM-N through a military operation that also succeeded in breaking the siege on Kadugli.

The humanitarian suffering of the residents of South Kordofan State has worsened in an unprecedented manner over the past three years.
