Netherlands announces increased acceptance chances for Sudanese asylum seekers
Amsterdam - Mashaweer
Dutch Asylum Minister Bart van den Brink has revealed a change in policies for accepting Sudanese asylum seekers, which increases their chances of obtaining asylum in the Netherlands.
On December 1, 2025, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs published an official general report on Sudan, covering the period from May 2024 to November 28, 2025.
Based on the current situation and developments, the existing asylum policy toward Sudan was evaluated, and it was determined that adjustments were required.
The decision stated that asylum applications will be accepted for all humanitarian aid workers, instead of being limited in the previous assessment to members of Emergency Response Rooms.
The report considers that employees of professional humanitarian aid organizations, medical workers, and volunteers in other civic initiatives, such as community kitchens, fall within the categories covered by protection.
