51 dead as fighting intensifies in Sudan’s Kordofan
Kordofan - Mashaweer
Clashes and drone strikes killed 51 people on Wednesday and Thursday in the strategic Kordofan region of central Sudan, which is one of the most violent frontlines between the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), local medical sources told Agence France-Presse.
The city of Dilling in South Kordofan state was subjected to artillery shelling and drone strikes on Thursday, according to sources in the city.
A medical source at the local hospital reported on Thursday that 28 people were killed and 60 others were injured in strikes targeting the city, including women and children.
One resident, speaking on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals, said, “The shelling is very intense. Bombs have been falling since this morning, and many houses have been destroyed.”
The RSF besieged Dilling for most of the war before the Sudanese army managed to break the siege last January.
The RSF has since continued to attack the city, particularly with drone strikes, including one that killed five people and injured seven others on Wednesday, according to the same medical source.
