Outbreak of epidemics threatens the lives of displaced people in North Darfur

North Darfur - Mashaweer

Medical sources revealed today, Monday, that cases of tuberculosis have been recorded among displaced people in the Tawila camps in North Darfur.

The displaced people in these camps suffer from a severe shortage of basic services including water, food, and shelter, amid population overcrowding and increasing needs.

According to the sources, the tuberculosis infections are caused by the poor humanitarian and health conditions, high humidity, the lack of safe water, and the overcrowding of tents with people fleeing the war in El Fasher.

The sources reported that Tawila Hospital has recorded about 15 cases so far, including deaths, suggesting that the numbers may be higher if a comprehensive health survey is conducted.
