Lack of healthcare exacerbates the suffering of pregnant women in Kordofan
West Kordofan - Mashaweer
Pregnant women among the displaced in the city of Babanusa in West Kordofan State are facing extremely difficult health conditions, amid a severe shortage of medical services and an absence of dedicated reproductive health programs, which doubles the risks for mothers and children.
An employee at a humanitarian organization said that some organizations occasionally cover the costs of childbirth, but support remains limited, with the exception of the contribution of the KAF organization, which provided postnatal care equipment.
She pointed out that the absence of comprehensive reproductive health programs leaves pregnant women facing dangerous challenges.
She mentioned that thousands of displaced people in the city of Babanusa are facing extremely difficult humanitarian conditions, amid a severe shortage of basic services and increasing needs as displacement continues since the outbreak of the war.
The number of displaced people in Babanusa is estimated at about 450,968 people who were distributed across 21 shelter centers within schools and government institutions, before most of them were evacuated and scattered into the peripheral neighborhoods of the city.
