Humanitarian disaster in Darfur camps .. Fire destroys homes of displaced persons and displaces dozens
Tawila - Mashaweer
A large fire broke out today (Saturday) at the displaced persons complex in the “Dali” camp, located south of the Tawila area in North Darfur State, leading to the burning of dozens of homes and causing severe damage to property.
The fire resulted in the destruction of a number of houses before residents were able to extinguish it through their own efforts, without any loss of life.
Gatherings of displaced persons fleeing from the city of El Fasher to the Tawila locality have witnessed frequent fires during the recent period, leading to loss of life and property, in addition to the displacement of dozens of families.
The Tawila area, which is under the control of the Sudan Liberation Movement forces, is one of the areas receiving the most displaced persons in Sudan, as it currently shelters about 700,000 people, most of whom fled from the city of El Fasher.
