IOM Appeals for $277 Million to Support Displacement-Affected Populations in Sudan

Geneva – Mashawir

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), a United Nations agency, announced on Tuesday that it requires $277 million to support people affected by displacement in Sudan and neighboring countries

In a statement, the organization said: “We are appealing for $277 million to support the most vulnerable populations affected by displacement and conflict in Sudan and neighboring countries 2026.”

It noted that its response priorities include strengthening data systems and mobility tracking, expanding humanitarian hubs and supply routes, enhancing cross-border operations, and increasing the localization of aid to support recovery and sustainable solutions.

The organization added that these priorities also include expanding cross-border assistance through the joint inter-agency humanitarian hub in Farchana, eastern Chad, to help deliver aid to hard-to-reach areas in Darfur and Kordofan.

It stated that humanitarian needs in Sudan are increasing, including food, clean water, healthcare, and shelter, while protection risks and widespread violations of international law continue to expose civilians to harm.
