New Escalation by “LAJSU” Following the Arrest of University of Kordofan Professors

The Sudanese University Professors Committee (LAJSU) announced the arrest of 11 professors from the Faculty of Education at the University of Kordofan, following their participation in a work strike.
The committee praised the professors’ firm and strong stance in carrying out the strike, noting its significant impact.
In a statement, the committee expressed its full solidarity with the professors, particularly those who were arrested from the Faculty of Education or summoned while outside the campus, due to their peaceful and civil expression of support during the protest associated with the strike. The strike was called by LAJSU to demand approval of a salary structure and service conditions regulations.
The committee added that “the professors’ actions—expressing their through peaceful and respectful means such as taking photos—constitute a legitimate exercise of their right to expression and protest in support of their just cause, and should not be met with arrest, summons, or investigation.”
It called on all professors to continue the comprehensive and open-ended strike without exception until the salary structure and service regulations for public university professors are approved, as recommended by the technical committee of the Council of Ministers.
