Sumoud” Alliance Discusses Efforts to End the War in Sudan with UN Envoy

A delegation from the Civil Democratic Alliance of the Forces of the Revolution “Sumoud” met with the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Sudan, Mr. Pekka Haavisto, and his accompanying team on Thursday evening in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
The “Sumoud” delegation congratulated Mr. Haavisto on the confidence placed in him by the UN Secretary-General, affirming the alliance’s readiness to cooperate with him in a way that supports efforts to achieve peace in Sudan.
The delegation emphasized that there is no military solution to the Sudanese conflict and presented its vision for ending the war, which is based on three tracks: a ceasefire, a humanitarian track, and a political dialogue track.
The alliance also affirmed its support for the Quadrilateral roadmap and the efforts being made to reach a comprehensive humanitarian truce. It further expressed appreciation and positive engagement with the efforts of the Quintet to launch a civilian political dialogue process.
Mr. Haavisto thanked the “Sumoud” delegation for the meeting and their proposals, affirming his determination to make every effort, alongside Sudanese stakeholders, to end the war, address the humanitarian crisis, and resolve all disputed issues through dialogue that leads to comprehensive peace.
