United Nations condemns Sudan’s war as a “neglected crisis”
Washington – Mashawir
The United Nations has expressed frustration over Sudan’s war becoming a “neglected crisis” in a country “trapped in a cycle of atrocities,” ahead of the third anniversary of the conflict, which falls tomorrow (Wednesday).
The UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Sudan, Clementine Nkweta-Salami, said: “We are indeed in a cycle in Sudan, with repeated incidents of sexual violence, repeated displacement, and repeated loss of life. We believe we are stuck in this cycle.”
She added that the United Nations has been consistently speaking out about the atrocities in Sudan, questioning: “Why has the world not risen sufficiently to act? What more needs to be done to awaken consciences and draw attention?”
