Health Interventions to Support Displaced People in Camps in Northern Sudan

Northern State – Mashaweer

Government authorities and voluntary organizations have put in place special arrangements to implement a package of humanitarian interventions at the Al-Afadh camp in Al-Dabbah and the Kilometer 70 camp for displaced people in eastern Dongola. The interventions include healthcare, food assistance, and the provision of safe drinking water.

The interventions include organizing a health day accompanied by a pharmacy to provide beneficiaries with medicines and medical supplies, as well as distributing “children’s boxes” containing food and nutritional supplies specifically for children. Safe drinking water will also be provided to displaced families.

The Humanitarian Aid Commission in Northern State and the Charitable Organization for Care and Development agreed to coordinate the distribution operations according to the needs and priorities of each camp, ensuring that assistance reaches the most vulnerable groups and that available resources are used effectively.

Volunteer activist in Northern State Majdoub Mohammed Khair told Mashaweer that “these interventions represent an important response to the basic needs of displaced people in the two camps.”

He stressed the need to facilitate the work of organizations and partners and strengthen coordination between them and relevant authorities to ensure the continuity of the humanitarian response.
