Health Conditions Deteriorate Among Displaced Sudanese in Tawila

Tawila – Mashawir

Ibtisam Abdelrahman Atim, the health official in Tawila Administrative District, has called on local, regional, and international organisations to intervene urgently to contain the humanitarian crisis in the liberated territories.

She warned that health conditions among displaced people are deteriorating amid the spread of malaria and typhoid, as well as rising cases of malnutrition, particularly among children, women, and older people, who are the most vulnerable to health risks.

The situation requires urgent health and humanitarian intervention, including the provision of medicines and medical supplies, the strengthening of healthcare services, and food assistance for the most vulnerable groups to prevent further deterioration in health conditions and save lives.

Civil authorities in Tawila have also warned that famine has become a looming humanitarian catastrophe threatening thousands of displaced people this year. The situation has been exacerbated by declining agricultural production and worsening food insecurity, underscoring the urgent need for humanitarian intervention to provide food and other essential supplies.
