“OCHA”: Deteriorating Humanitarian Conditions for Residents of Darfur and Kordofan

Follow-ups - Mashaweer

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Sudan has expressed its deep concern over the deteriorating conditions of thousands of civilians cut off from aid in North Darfur State. Meanwhile, the cities of Dilling and Kadugli remain under siege amidst severe hunger and confirmed indicators of famine in the capital, Kadugli.

The office noted that the ongoing escalation has left thousands of civilians trapped in Darfur and forced families to flee in Kordofan.

It further highlighted that approximately 2,000 families are stranded and besieged in Wadi Qardi and Um Saad, located in the Um Baru and Kornoi areas of northwestern North Darfur. The fighting is obstructing the arrival of humanitarian aid and causing massive waves of displacement for the residents of the Kordofan region.
