At the conclusion of its official visit to the German capital, Berlin, the delegation of the Civil Democratic Alliance of Revolutionary Forces (Somoud), led by Dr. Abdalla Hamdok, met with the Minister of State for Economic Cooperation and Development of the Federal Republic of Germany, Ms. Reem Alabali-Radovan.
Ms. Alabali-Radovan received a comprehensive briefing from the Somoud delegation regarding the war, its developments, and the resulting violations and humanitarian catastrophe.
For her part, the Minister confirmed the German government’s intention to increase the volume of humanitarian support allocated to Sudan. She stated that her government is in the process of providing an additional 150 million euros to assist Sudanese refugees in neighboring countries, commensurate with the scale of the worsening humanitarian disaster and the tragic conditions faced by Sudanese refugees.
She announced a plan to establish a support fund led by Germany in partnership with other European nations. Resources for this fund will be bolstered through the Berlin Conference scheduled for this coming April. Alabali-Radovan reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to supporting the democratic transition in Sudan and assisting civil forces that oppose the war.
The Minister praised the efforts of the Somoud alliance for its continuous communication and perseverance in mitigating the effects of the war. She also informed the delegation of her ministry’s close coordination with the German Foreign Office to ensure the success of the Sudan Conference, which Germany intends to organize in partnership with the United Kingdom and France in April.
