Saudi Arabia Launches Vital Humanitarian Projects in Sudan

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre launched nine humanitarian projects in Port Sudan covering the health, water, environmental sanitation, and protection sectors. The launch took place in the presence of the Saudi Ambassador, Ali bin Hassan Jafar, and Salma Al-Mubarak, a member of the Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council.

The launch included nine projects and programs, beginning with the second phase of a project to supply modern medical equipment to government hospitals. These include Al-Shuhada (Bahri), Omdurman, Wad Madani, Ad-Damazin, Kosti Teaching, Umm Ruwaba, and Wad Rawah hospitals across the states of Khartoum, Gezira, Blue Nile, White Nile, and North Kordofan.

The second project involves the installation of five therapeutic oxygen production plants with a capacity of 20 cubic meters per hour. these will be located at Al-Shuhada (Bahri), Omdurman, Al-Hasahisa, Old Halfa Teaching, and Ad-Dabbah Central hospitals. A third project is dedicated to the care of 1,070 orphans.

The fourth project focuses on securing two power generators and electrical control switches for the Al-Manara Nile water purification plant in Omdurman. This will increase the plant’s production from to cubic meters per day. Additionally, two generators were provided for the Saudi Maternity Hospital and Al-Buluk Specialized Children’s Hospital in Omdurman.

The fifth project involves providing five generators for Al-Shaab Teaching Hospital Khartoum, Ahmed Gasim Hospital (Khartoum Bahri), and Al-Tijani Al-Mahi Hospital (Omdurman).

The sixth project entails the construction of 15 modern, fully serviced water stations in areas crowded with displaced persons across four localities in Northern State. The seventh project includes nine similar stations in densely populated areas in River Nile State.

The eighth project focuses on rehabilitating nine existing water stations in Northern State by drilling wells, installing centrifugal pumps, and providing accessories for out-of-service wells. Finally, the ninth project involves establishing a modern, integrated water station in the city of Shendi, River Nile State.

Saudi Ambassador Ali bin Hassan Jafar emphasized that his country will remain supportive of Sudan on its path toward recovery and reconstruction. He noted that these projects are specifically designed to serve the Sudanese people in the essential fields of water, health, and energy.
