Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held a phone call with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, during which they discussed the deteriorating humanitarian and security conditions in Sudan.
The two ministers touched upon efforts to support de-escalation, emphasizing the importance of quickly reaching a humanitarian truce as a precursor to a comprehensive ceasefire and the launch of an inclusive, Sudanese-owned political process.
They also stressed the priority of establishing safe humanitarian corridors and zones for civilians, particularly in light of the horrific events witnessed in the city of El Fasher.
Furthermore, they underscored the necessity of the withdrawal of armed militias to ensure the safety and security of civilians.
