Washington - Mashaweer

Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor to the U.S. President for African and Arab Affairs, praised the cooperation of the President of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council and Army Commander, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, describing it as “tangible” over the past period.

He emphasized that this cooperation contributed to creating an environment conducive to the success of the Washington Conference, viewing it as a major step on the path toward peace in Sudan.

In his address to the conference, Boulos stated that the event opens doors of hope for the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid, alongside supporting reconstruction efforts in Sudan. He described the international initiative as “historic,” noting its potential to help rebuild what the war has destroyed and serve as a lifeline for the Sudanese people, who have suffered the horrors of conflict and devastation.

Boulos explained that the international community will provide significant contributions that will have a direct positive impact on the lives of citizens, thereby supporting stability and peace.

He added that the ongoing cooperation reflects Sudan’s commitment to a full civilian democratic path and paves the way for achieving the people’s aspirations for freedom, peace, and justice.

He concluded by affirming that the conference represents a positive turning point in Sudan’s trajectory, expecting it to result in support for the national economy and the improvement of livelihoods. He expressed his hope for continued international efforts to build a future defined by hope, stability, and prosperity.
