Darfur Displacement Coordination Warns of Worsening Conditions and Disease Outbreaks Amid Heavy Rainfall

The Resistance Committees Coordination of El Fasher has called on residents of Northern State to prepare for what it described as a “decisive phase,” stressing that the war is far from over. The committee warned that “militias and their allies are targeting the social fabric and collective awareness of the state,” describing the “breach of the North” as an entry point for the fragmentation of the country.

Meanwhile, in North Darfur, the General Coordination of Displaced Persons and Refugees has issued an urgent humanitarian appeal, warning of a further deterioration in the conditions of displaced people in the Jebel Marra and Tawila areas. This warning coincides with the onset of heavy rains that have flooded IDP gathering areas.

A statement from the coordination indicated that the rains pose a serious threat of widespread disease outbreaks among the millions of displaced persons who have fled conflict zones and are now living in dire humanitarian conditions, lacking the most basic necessities such as shelter, clean water, food, and healthcare services.
