U.S. Moves to Resolve the Sudanese Crisis

Reports – Mashawir

Mossad Boulos, Senior Advisor to the U.S. President for African Affairs, discussed the Sudanese crisis and ways to address related regional conflicts with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty.

The Egyptian minister had previously met with his U.S. counterpart, Marco Rubio, in Washington late last week to discuss the situation in Sudan.

Both sides emphasized the need for an immediate ceasefire and the facilitation of humanitarian aid delivery. The Egyptian minister reaffirmed his country’s support for Sudanese state institutions and stressed the importance of respecting Sudan’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.

A meeting of the foreign ministers of the Quad group (the U.S., Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Egypt), which was scheduled to take place in Washington on July 30 to discuss the Sudanese crisis and develop a unified vision to end the war and begin a comprehensive political transition, was postponed to an unspecified later date.
