U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a phone call with his British counterpart David Lammy, during which they discussed the escalating crisis in Sudan and the worsening humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, amid the ongoing Israeli blockade and the increasing suffering of civilians—particularly pregnant and nursing women, children, and the elderly.
According to a statement from the U.S. Department of State, the two sides also discussed ongoing efforts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza and secure the release of hostages.
The conversation further addressed the war in Ukraine, with both officials reaffirming the need to end the conflict and reiterating their commitment to preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. The call also included a focused discussion on the escalating situation in Sudan.
