United Nations Warns of Escalating Conflict and Rising Civilian Casualties in Sudan
Follow-ups – Mashawir

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has expressed deep concern over the escalating conflict in Sudan, the increasing number of civilian casualties, and the overall deterioration of humanitarian conditions across the country amid the ongoing fighting.
The office highlighted the continuation of intense clashes in North Darfur State, with multiple reports in recent days confirming civilian deaths.
UN spokesperson Farhan Haq stated that the confirmed presence of landmines in several areas of Khartoum State introduces a new and dangerous layer of threats already facing civilians.
He noted the discovery of anti-personnel and anti-vehicle mines in Al-Mogran, Omdurman, and Bahri (Khartoum North).
“These devices not only maim and kill civilians,” he said, “but also hinder access to health services, markets, and humanitarian aid.”
