Sudanese Doctors: Thousands of Families Displaced from Villages in North Kordofan Under Harsh Conditions

Mashawir – Follow-ups

The Sudanese Doctors’ Network revealed that nearly 3,000 displaced families from 66 villages in North Kordofan State have arrived in Khartoum and White Nile states, following attacks by militias on their villages.

A statement by the Network confirmed that these families were subjected to forced eviction and displacement, looting of money and livestock, as well as the arrest of several of their leaders, in systematic attacks carried out by militias on their areas in the administrative units of Umm Siala and Umm Qurefa.

The Network stated that these criminal acts have left thousands of families homeless, exposing them to serious risks, especially with the approach of the planting season, which serves as a lifeline for many in the region.

It added that the continuation of such policies will exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in North Kordofan and cause the failure of the agricultural season, effectively imposing a systematic famine on residents whose livelihoods depend primarily on farming.
