The European Union has called on the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and their allies to lift the siege on the city of El Fasher, in compliance with UN Security Council Resolution 2736 of 2024.
In a joint statement on delivering humanitarian aid to Sudan — issued by the United Kingdom, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Ireland, Switzerland, Canada, along with the EU Commissioner for Crisis Management — both the army and the RSF were urged to honor their obligations under international humanitarian law to protect civilians and humanitarian workers.
The statement stressed the need to remove all restrictions, open all possible routes, and agree on mechanisms for delivering humanitarian assistance across conflict lines.
