Abdul Wahid al-Nur: There are expectations of similar disasters in neighboring villages

Reports – Mashawir

The head of the Sudan Liberation Movement, Abdul Wahid Mohammed al-Nur, said that “there are expectations of disasters similar to the Tarsin village tragedy in some nearby areas and villages.”

Al-Nur called for a plan to evacuate residents from those areas and provide them with adequate housing.

He also urged regional and international organizations to act swiftly and help save the lives of thousands of citizens who are threatened by landslides.

For its part, the United Nations announced that it is working to respond to the devastating landslide that occurred in the Darfur region.

In a statement, UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Sudan Luka Renda said, “The United Nations and our humanitarian partners are moving to provide support to the affected population.”

Meanwhile, the African Union urged Sudanese parties to “silence the guns” and allow aid delivery to the victims of the landslide.
