Sudan’s Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, said that Sudan is waging an existential battle, stressing that “illusions of division will not come true.”
Speaking on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Sudan’s independence from the ruins of the Republican Palace in the capital, Khartoum, al-Burhan stated that the battle being fought by the army has unified the collective conscience of the Sudanese people, adding that victory is forthcoming.
He vowed to expel what he described as the rebellion from the country and expressed his readiness to engage in any national reconciliation efforts aimed at ending the war.
Al-Burhan added, “We stand with the people and their revolution to fulfill their aspirations for freedom, peace, and justice.”
He renewed his call for national reconciliation, emphasizing that its doors remain open and that the homeland has room for everyone.
