The Attorney General of the Republic of Sudan and Chairperson of the National Committee for Investigating Crimes and Violations of National and International Humanitarian Law, Intisar Abdal-Aal, stated that the Sudanese government has handed over 135 children to their families through the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). These children were captured during military operations while fighting within the ranks of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
Abdal-Aal detailed the occurrence of systematic sexual violence crimes committed by the RSF, including cases of rape carried out in front of family members. These acts targeted underage girls and caused profound psychological trauma to the victims and their families.
Furthermore, Abdal-Aal pointed out that among the criminal lawsuits regarding these violations, charges have been brought against 122 foreign mercenaries fighting alongside the RSF, with death sentences already issued against several of them.
She emphasized that the National Committee possesses physical evidence proving the involvement of certain countries in allowing the passage of weapons and equipment through their shared borders with Sudan, as well as the United Arab Emirates’ direct support for the RSF.
