Dr. Abdalla Hamdok, head of the Civil Democratic Alliance of Revolutionary Forces “Sumoud”, met with Ms. Amina Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, as part of the alliance delegation’s visit to the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.
During the meeting, they discussed the developments of the war in Sudan and its serious humanitarian and political repercussions on the country and the region.
The meeting addressed the “Sumoud” alliance’s vision for achieving peace and stopping the war, emphasizing the importance of reaching an immediate humanitarian truce and launching a political process that leads to sustainable peace and a genuine civil-democratic transition.
Both sides touched upon the required political and humanitarian role of the United Nations to support efforts to end the war, protect civilians, facilitate the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid, and contribute to creating an environment for a comprehensive, civilian-led peace process.
