“Somoud” Alliance: Muslim Brotherhood Is an Obstacle to Ending Sudan’s War

Nairobi – Mashawir

Jaafar Hassan, the official spokesperson for the Civil Democratic Alliance of the Forces of the Revolution “Somoud,” stated that Sudanese political and civil forces reached broad consensus during extensive meetings in Nairobi on the necessity of ending the war in Sudan.

He warned of the dangers threatening the country’s unity, stressing that any military truce not linked to a comprehensive political process could reinforce the reality of division.

Hassan explained that the meetings included a broad spectrum of political and civil groups, including the “Somoud” coalition as well as other parties and movements such as the Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party and the Sudan Liberation Army Movement.

He noted that participants discussed over two days a wide range of issues related to Sudan’s future and ways to stop the war.

Hassan considered the Muslim Brotherhood in Sudan to be “the greatest obstacle” to the country’s progress, accusing the group of being behind the 1989 coup, the October 25 coup, and also playing a role in the current war.
