United Nations: Return of Sudanese Displaced People Tests State’s Ability to Provide Services

Khartoum – Mashawir

The United Nations confirmed that it has observed positive indicators in the humanitarian situation in Sudan, represented by the increasing return of displaced persons and refugees to their original areas, describing it as a pivotal step and a ray of hope amid the ongoing consequences of one of the world’s most complex and largest displacement crises.

The organization said in a statement that “the return of approximately 4.1 million people to various states across the country reflects a genuine desire among citizens to restore their normal lives and achieve stability in their communities.”

This development comes as some areas witness a relative improvement in security and field conditions, encouraging thousands of families to make the voluntary decision to return and move beyond life in camps and exile.

Reports indicate that this large-scale human movement represents a major test for local and national institutions in terms of accommodating these numbers and providing the essentials for a dignified life amid current logistical challenges.

Observers also considered it an indication of the need to intensify international coordination to support reconstruction plans and provide the resources necessary to consolidate stability in reclaimed areas.
