Rapidly Worsening Humanitarian Situation in North Kordofan Deepens Civilian Suffering

North Kordofan – Mashawir

Large areas of North Kordofan State in central Sudan are experiencing a rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation due to restrictions on the movement of food, medical supplies, and other goods between conflict zones, according to a Sudanese rights group.

In a statement, the Emergency Lawyers Group said that the Sudanese Armed Forces had arrested at least 280 people and confiscated goods and vehicles transporting food supplies from the city of Al-Dabbah, other towns in Northern State, and Omdurman toward northern Kordofan.

The group added that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), for their part, have blocked the movement of goods, including food items and livestock, from areas under their control to other regions, leading to severe disruptions in supply chains and significant increases in commodity prices.

According to the group, civilians in a number of villages across these areas are suffering from acute shortages of food, medicine, and other basic necessities. The lack of essential supplies has forced residents to risk their lives in search of provisions amid growing security threats and escalating drone attacks targeting roads and vehicles.
