The Rashad Women’s Emergency Room, with support from the South Kordofan State Grassroots Coordination Council, has launched the third medical camp for internally displaced people (IDPs) in the town of Rashad. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the humanitarian response and provide essential healthcare services to the most vulnerable communities.
The camp has attracted a large number of displaced residents and offers a comprehensive package of healthcare services, including medical consultations, laboratory testing, antenatal care with ultrasound examinations, the provision of medicines, treatment for chronic illnesses, emergency care, and short-term hospitalization for critical cases.
Zainab Mahmoud, a member of the Rashad Women’s Emergency Room, told Mashaweer that the camp was organized in response to the growing healthcare needs of displaced people amid the limited availability of medical services in the area.
She noted that the medical teams are committed to providing integrated healthcare services for all groups, with particular attention to women, children, and older people.
Mahmoud added that the camp will continue operating, receiving patients, and delivering healthcare services, expressing hope that support for such initiatives will continue to expand their reach and benefit more people in need.
For her part, displaced resident Maryam Abdelrahman told Mashaweer that the camp has significantly eased the suffering of displaced families, especially given the difficulty of accessing healthcare facilities and the high cost of medical treatment.
She emphasized that providing free medical consultations and medicines represents vital support for families living under extremely difficult humanitarian conditions.
