The session will focus on developments in the conflict and will be held behind closed doors.
The war between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) erupted in April 2023, leaving thousands of people dead and injured.
International, regional, and domestic actors have put forward several initiatives aimed at ending the fighting and preventing it from escalating into a full-scale civil war. The most prominent efforts include the Saudi–U.S. Jeddah Platform, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) initiative, the Manama Declaration, and the Neighboring Countries Initiative, which brings together Egypt, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Chad, Libya, the Central African Republic, Eritrea, and other regional partners seeking a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
