Damazin – Mashaweer

The first Forum for Initiatives and Civil Society Organizations on Building Social Peace, “Peace Train 2,” concluded on Sunday in Damazin. The three-day forum was organized by the “Yalla for Peace” initiative under the slogan, “Our Diversity Is Beauty, Our Unity Is Peace,” and featured discussions, dialogue, and presentations of working groups’ experiences.

The forum produced a number of recommendations, outcomes, and priorities addressing issues related to building social peace, strengthening coordination among initiatives, civil society organizations, and relevant stakeholders.

The Secretary-General of the “Yalla for Peace” initiative, Ezz Al-Din Al-Naeem, told Mashaweer that “the forum brought together over three days a number of initiatives and civil society organizations working in the field of social peacebuilding, providing a space for exchanging ideas and experiences on issues of peace and social cohesion.”

He added that “the forum represents preparations for an inclusive conference on peacebuilding,” noting that its outcomes will be translated into activities and projects aimed at promoting social peace, while also expanding coordination with relevant stakeholders.

For his part, Walid Ali Adam, representing the forum participants, told Mashaweer that “the dialogue and discussion sessions were effective and focused, involving the exchange of experiences and knowledge, as well as learning from international experiences and linking them to the local context. This will help develop initiatives that are more closely aligned with the needs of communities.”
