Around 4,000 displaced people from Sodari locality in North Kordofan State have arrived in recent days in the Al-Safwa area of Omdurman after being subjected to looting and robbery in their home areas, amid growing humanitarian needs.
The displaced people, including families and children, are facing difficult humanitarian conditions due to a lack of basic necessities, with an urgent need for food, clothing, and shelter materials, according to accounts from the area.
Ali Badr Al-Din, a volunteer activist in the Salha area of Omdurman, told Mashaweer that “the large numbers of arrivals in recent days have increased pressure on available resources and services.”
He called on humanitarian organizations and community initiatives to accelerate the delivery of in-kind assistance to the displaced, particularly food supplies, shelter materials, and clothing.
He noted that “the displaced people arrived in the area after losing a large portion of their belongings as a result of looting and robbery, leaving them in urgent need of interventions to help them secure the most basic necessities of life.”
