Volunteers Support Displaced Students in North Kordofan Camps

El Obeid – Mashaweer

Volunteers, in partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), have begun registering displaced students seeking to enroll in an alternative education program at the Khor Tagat and Arous Al-Rimal camps in North Kordofan State, as part of an emergency response project.

The program, organized by the Hope Organization, aims to provide educational opportunities for children affected by displacement and the war, helping them continue their education amid disruptions and difficulties accessing formal schools.

Mohamed Salah Al-Hassan, an education support activist in North Kordofan, told Mashaweer that “registering the students is an important step toward safeguarding children’s right to education, particularly given the circumstances that have forced large numbers of them to stop attending school.”

He added that “the continuation of alternative education programs requires sustained support to provide teachers, educational materials, and an appropriate learning environment.”

He called for expanding the scope of interventions to reach more displaced children and those affected by the war.
