The Emergency Room of Jebel Issa in Malha locality, North Darfur, said that “residents are facing difficult living conditions amid declining livestock values and rising prices of basic food commodities, widening the gap between household incomes and their ability to meet their daily needs.”
The Emergency Room said in a statement that “the decline in livestock prices has made selling livestock less able to cover the costs of food and other basic necessities.”
It noted that “the continued decline in livestock revenues, reduced purchasing power, and rising commodity prices have made it increasingly difficult for some households to secure enough food to meet their basic nutritional needs.”
It further pointed out that “higher transportation costs and difficulties in moving goods and supplies into the area are exacerbating the pressures faced by residents.”
