Sudan: Thousands of displaced people from Mistariha are without shelter or food

Mistariha - Mashaweer

The Sudan Doctors Network reported that more than 3,000 displaced people from the Mistariha area in North Darfur State are living in tragic conditions in the open, lacking the basic necessities of life, including shelter, food, and drinking water.

This mass displacement followed armed attacks launched by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on the area, which included drone strikes and ground raids that led to the burning of homes and looting of property.

This comes as the United Nations announced that the number of civilian deaths in the Sudan war more than doubled in 2025 compared to previous years, with the expansion of clashes and the use of heavy weapons and drones in populated areas.

The network stated that the displaced, most of whom are women, children, the elderly, and pregnant women, were forced to flee without belongings or provisions.

It confirmed that Mistariha has been turned into ruins, threatening an imminent health and humanitarian disaster unless international organizations intervene immediately to provide health care and relief.

For its part, the International Organization for Migration confirmed that these displaced people are scattered across various locations in the Kabkabiya locality amidst complex security conditions.
