Amnesty International: Parties to the Conflict in Sudan Committed Serious Violations

London – Mashawir

Amnesty International said that all parties to the conflict in Sudan have continued to commit serious violations of international human rights law and international humanitarian law, resulting in a large number of civilian casualties.

In its annual report, the organization confirmed that several countries continued to supply arms to the parties to the conflict, in violation of the arms embargo imposed by the United Nations Security Council on Darfur.

It also pointed to widespread and systematic conflict-related sexual violence against women and girls.

The organization noted that the continued impunity for violations, along with breaches of economic and social rights and the looting and destruction of civilian property, has led to mass displacement.
