Schools Across Sudanese States Threatened by Teachers’ Strike Over Delayed Salaries

Omdurman – Mashawir

The Sudanese Teachers Committee has warned of escalating protests by teachers over delayed and inadequate salaries, following demonstrations by female teachers in the city of Kassala on Sunday demanding payment of their financial entitlements.

The Sudanese Teachers Committee accused the Federal Ministry of Finance and state governments of worsening the teachers’ living crisis through delays in salary payments and low wages.

In a statement issued today, the committee warned that protests are expected to intensify in several states during the coming period.

Female teachers in Kassala staged demonstrations on Sunday demanding payment of their financial dues in order to ensure stability in the educational process in the eastern Sudanese state.

Teachers have repeatedly complained about poor wages, delays in salary disbursement, and the accumulation of unpaid dues amid soaring commodity prices and deteriorating living conditions. This has prompted teachers’ committees to organize continuous protests and demands for better wages and the payment of financial entitlements.
